Baling machine - the main machine in farm animal production, designed for hay harvesting. The machine picks up the hay and compresses it into bales or rolls, and wraps it with braid or wire for better fixation and compact storage.
Polish and foreign balers are divided into rotobalers and square balers.
Rotobalers pack hay in form of rolls, and have very simple construction, and that translates into relatively low price. The square balers produce square blocks of hay, and that makes storage and transportation of forage crops much easier.
The roll formation is made in compression chambers; the chambers can have variable and constant capacity. Most farmers prefer variable capacity chambers as they provide control over the volume and density of hay bales. There are also different kinds of balers according to the type of attachment to the base machine: mounted, trailed and self-propelled. Self-propelled machines are popular on the Western markets and often have more advanced system for picking and chopping. The price category of mounted and trailed balers is much more attractive for domestic farmers.
The driving element of machine is the PTO or the own engine of self-propelled balers with a capacity of up to 30 PS. The additional options included in advanced machines are bale counters and protection against the foreign objects entry. The compression chamber protection is very important to ensure the continuous operation of the baler and avoid unplanned equipment repair.
